BRIEF: PRESS START ON AIGA’S DESIGN COMPETITION

We were stoked to be invited by legendary designer Bonnie Siegler to create the show open and packaging for Command X, the live design competition hosted each year at the AIGA Design Conference. She asked us to put an And/Or spin on the show’s titles – the only stipulation was that we had to showcase the design student competitors and judges in a fun, fresh way that would be unique to that year.

SOLUTION: 8 BIT GAME GRAPHICS WITH A MODERN FEEL

Inspired by the playful competition of classic 8-bit video games like Super Mario Brothers, Frogger and yes, even Qbert, we sprinkled in a heavy dose of insider design jokes and freshened up the room with a modern color palette.
