BRIEF: REFRESH AN ICONIC SHOW
MTV True Life was groundbreaking when it first aired. It was one of the first TV docuseries that brought marginal voices to life and took a look at controversial topics ranging from drugs and sex to social behavior. For its reboot in 2018, MTV asked us to reconsider the show open for the current age, complete with a run of new subjects, like butts, Snapchat, and, of course, the Kardashians.
SOLUTION: A TABLOID-INSPIRED FEAST FOR THE EYES
We developed a look and feel for the show open inspired by tabloid headlines and clickbait behavior. Bold, poppy copy and dynamic animation gives viewers a taste of wild stories to come, updating the show package for the swiping, tapping, and scrolling behavior of today.
