BRIEF: INTRODUCE A MAJOR INFLUENCE ON MODERN ART

We partnered with Trollbäck + Co. to design and shoot the opening title sequence and graphics for the 2015 documentary Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict. The film documents Peggy’s fascinating life as an art collector and socialite, and the opening sequence needed to represent her intimate relationships with art and artists.

SOLUTION: PAINT THE STORY WITH SOME LEGENDARY BRUSHSTROKES

The concept was inspired by the work of the abstract expressionists Peggy championed during her life, like Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings and Robert Motherwell’s bold brush strokes. Working with an overhead camera setup, plexiglass, and a few paintbrushes, we tried our hand at reproducing a few famous brushstrokes, footage that was then incorporated into the opening sequence and animation.
